Why You Want to Grow Fresh Rosemary

Several years ago we were visiting friends in Arizona.  Along the backside of their property they had a row of rosemary bushes. They filled the yard with the most beautiful aroma and when our friend headed out to clip a few to add to our grilled dinner, Jim & I knew we needed to add rosemary to our backyard of our newly purchased home.

We now have three large rosemary bushes in our backyard and they have been the best addition to our yard.
Here is why-
1. They are beautiful plants especially when they begin to bud. Their tiny flowers are very pretty.
2. They make our backyard smell lovely.
3. They are a natural mosquito repellent. Can't beat that.
4. We always have fresh rosemary on hand for any recipe we use it a lot when we are cooking poultry or lamb
5. We frequently cut sprigs of rosemary and place them in a vase on our dining room table. It makes the house smell fresh and clean. If you change the water each day they usually last about a week.

I'm going to add an old post of mine to your link-up. I think you might like it! I have to keep that rosemary plaint small, but it's just so pretty! God bless!

    1. I'm surprised Jacob doesn't complain about the smell. He usually hates any kind of scent. Thanks for linking up, I'm looking forward to checking it out. Enjoy your week. Many blessings to you.

  3. We love rosemary and enjoyed some today on our dinner. I'm happy to read that it's a natural mosquito repellent because I have some in a planter on the front porch as well as a hanging basket of herbs by the back door. Wonderful!

    1. I was really excited when I found out about that also. I am paranoid about mosquito bites and west nile.

  4. Any tips for keeping them alive? This is my first year trying herbs in my garden and the only success I've had is with parsley. Everything else failed :(

  5. Any tips for keeping them alive? This is my first year attempting herbs in the garden and our only success has been parsley- the rosemary and everything else was a big failure!

By the way, found you via the blog hop! Stop by

    1. Well we've just water it along with the rest of our plants. Rosemary seems to be a pretty hearty plant. All of ours get afternoon sun too, that could be what helps them.
