On Top of a Cupcake

Cupcake toppers seem to be the most popular way to decorate cupcakes these days. I love them because I am not a cupcake decorator but I am a paper crafter so cupcake toppers allow me to create beautiful cupcakes. I can also cheat and buy store bought cupcakes and personalize them using a topper.
These are the toppers I created for a friend's birthday party.

I used the Cricut Art Philosophy Collection to create my flowers. The collection from Close to My Heart features the Cricut cartridge which I used to cut out the flowers and 3 Acrylic stamps sets. One features this great flower. I stamped my flower with CTMH ink color Lagoon. You can purchase CTMH products here.

I have an obsession with distressing. I used chocolate ink to distress the ends of the flower and backing. Then I attached the stamped flower to the card stock with a piece of foam adhesive so it had some dimension. I attached each to a toothpick and that was it.

I admit it - I cheated and bought cupcakes from Safeway, but hey they make really good cupcakes. Much better then what I could have baked and so much easier to do when you have a toddler in tow.

If you find yourself putting together a party, think about making some cupcake toppers to personalize your bash.

Until next time,
Karri

    1. Thanks for the comment.I recently bought the Cricut Cake machine so I'm looking forward to decorating the cupcakes with fondant. I'm wondering if the store might let me order undecorated cupcakes. Good luck with your cake toppers. I hope you post them so we can all see.
