Living with Braces Kit

Living with braces has brought a whole new routine into my life - Brushing my teeth when I'm out to eat. So far I have enjoyed several public restroom's for this. So many I'm thinking of posting my top 10 favorites. Just kidding but I can't promise it might not come out during a period of serious writer's block.
My new dental routine goes way beyond just a toothbrush and toothpaste. I now have dental wax, special floss, a small dental mirror, dental picks, some brace relief cream and a special point tipped brush that I must bring with me where ever I go. Everything had been stored in a pouch in my purse. It worked fine but I wanted something special. I had been viewing several pins on Pinterest of altered Altoid boxes. I happened to have one and decided to go for it.
Here are my supplies: Close to My Heart Stella paper packet, CTMH ink in the color Lagoon and CTHM My Acrylix Card Word Puzzle Stamp Set. The non CTMH products I used were the ribbon, Claudine Hellmuth Studio Multi-Medium Gloss and Ranger Acrylic Paint Dabber in Chicken Feed (it was an orange shade.)

I sanded my box then painted it with the acrylic paint. I kept some of the blue showing because the paper I used was a great match.

I traced the box and cut the top and bottom out. I then inked the edges with my CTMH ink.

I glued the paper on with my multi-medium. Once it dried, I painted the medium over the entire box to give it strength and a pretty shine.

I created this small embellishment for the top. I choose the saying so that every time I brush my teeth I'm reminded that all this hassle will pay off with a beautiful smile.

I attached ribbon using glue dots. I had originally tried to use my multi-medium but it wouldn't hold.  The glue dots were much better.

I lined the bottom with some orange paper and filled it with my dental tools. I was unable to add my toothbrush and tooth paste because they were to long. It's okay because I'm still using my original bag which fits my box, my toothbrush and my toothpaste. I'll be on the look out for small versions of each but I'm thinking travel sizes come standard but you never know. I'm looking forward to making several more boxes. I have a tiny box I will be decorating to hold Tylenol and my migraine medicine. Pinterest also had ideas for pocket first aid kits and pocket sewing kits. Really the possibilities are endless.

Until next time,
Karri

  2. It's a brilliant idea, actually. You won't have to worry about misplacing your dental equipment if you have one of this. However, make sure that they were properly sanitized before you put them inside the kit to make sure that bacteria will not thrive inside. Remember, prevention is better than cure, much like as sanitizing is best after cleaning the equipment.
